Institute Innovation Council (IIC)
Ministry of Education (MoE), Govt. of India has established ‘MoE’s Institute Innovation Council (IIC)’ during 2018 to systematically foster the culture of innovation amongst all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in India. It also aims to create a vibrant local innovation SCAS-Institution’s Innovation Council (SCAS-IIC) is dedicated to fostering a vibrant startup ecosystem for both faculty and students. With a core mandate aligned with the Ministry of Education’s IIC objectives, SCAS-IIC aims to inspire and nurture students by empowering them to develop and transform new ideas into tangible prototypes alongside their academic pursuits. Established in the 2023-24 IIC academic calendar, SCAS-IIC is committed to the following objectives:
Conducting a wide range of innovation and entrepreneurship activities as prescribed by the Ministry of Education’s IIC within set timelines.
Identifying and recognizing innovative ideas, celebrating achievements, and sharing success stories.
Hosting regular workshops, seminars, and interactive sessions with entrepreneurs, investors, and professionals while building a mentor network for student innovators.
Building connections with peer institutions and national entrepreneurship development organizations.
Organizing Hackathons, idea competitions, and mini-challenges in collaboration with industry partners.
Hosting intra/inter-collegiate and school-level Proof of Concept (PoC) competitions to encourage creative solutions.

IIC INAGURATION
Saraswathi College of Arts and Science successfully inaugurated the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) on 13th January 2026 at 10:00 AM. The programme marked a significant milestone in the institution’s commitment to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry-oriented learning among students.
The event was graced by the presence of the Special Guest Mr.Ranjith Vijayan Founding Partner of Inscapre Labs and AI Evangelist, who delivered an insightful address highlighting the importance of innovation, startups, and emerging technologies in today’s competitive global environment. The session inspired students to think creatively, develop problem-solving skills, and explore entrepreneurial opportunities.
The inauguration of IIC & IEDC aims to provide a platform for students to engage in innovation-driven activities, startups, research initiatives, and industry collaboration, thereby nurturing future innovators and entrepreneurs.
